You open Settings → your name → Subscriptions to cancel your iCloud storage plan — and it’s not there. Don’t worry, nothing is wrong. iCloud+ storage is managed in a completely different place from App Store subscriptions, and once you know where to look, it takes seconds.
The key fact: iCloud+ is tied to your Apple ID’s iCloud settings, not to the App Store billing system. That’s why it never appears in the Subscriptions list. You manage it under Settings → your name → iCloud instead. Apple’s guide to buying and managing iCloud+ storage walks through every option on iPhone.
How to manage your iCloud subscription
1. Open Settings → your name → iCloud
Tap Settings, then your name at the top, then iCloud. Tap “Manage Account Storage” to see your current plan, how much you’re using, and what’s taking up space — photos, backups, documents, all broken down.
2. Change your storage plan
Tap “Change Storage Plan” (or “Upgrade to iCloud+”). Here you can upgrade to a larger plan, downgrade to a smaller one, or switch back to the free 5 GB plan. Downgrading to the free plan effectively cancels your paid subscription at the end of the current billing cycle — no separate cancel button needed.
3. Review the renewal date and payment method
On the same screen, check when your plan renews and which payment method gets charged. If your card expired, update it here to avoid losing storage unexpectedly — or let it lapse deliberately if you’re canceling.

4. Understand why it’s not in Subscriptions
This is the question almost everyone asks: your iCloud+ plan will NEVER appear in Settings → your name → Subscriptions. That list is only for App Store subscriptions. iCloud storage is billed through your Apple ID directly and managed exclusively under iCloud settings. MacRumors has a good explainer of how Apple’s different billing systems work if you want the full picture.
5. Downgrade safely
If you downgrade to a smaller plan, the change takes effect after your current billing period ends — you keep the larger storage until then. Before downgrading, make sure your stored data actually fits the new plan. If you’re using 100 GB and drop to 50 GB, you’ll need to delete or move data first, or syncing and backups will stop.
If it still doesn’t work
If “Change Storage Plan” is greyed out, check for an unpaid balance on your Apple ID, or try signing out and back in. Family Sharing organizers manage the shared iCloud+ plan for the whole family from their own device. And if you’re managing storage because updates keep eating space, here’s how to completely block iOS 26 updates on iPhone.
FAQ
Can I cancel iCloud+ and keep my files?
Yes — downgrading to the free 5 GB plan doesn’t delete your files immediately. But if your stored data exceeds 5 GB, iCloud will stop syncing and backing up until you free space or upgrade again. Download anything important first, just in case.
Why does Apple separate iCloud from App Store subscriptions?
iCloud+ is infrastructure tied to your Apple ID — storage, Private Relay, Hide My Email — while App Store subscriptions are purchases through the store. Different billing systems, different management screens. Once you know iCloud lives under Settings → your name → iCloud, you’ll never hunt for it again. While you’re tidying up, see which built-in iPhone apps you can delete to free even more space.
iCloud+ is one of Apple’s most confusing subscriptions purely because of where it’s hidden. Now you know: not in Subscriptions, but under iCloud settings — manage, upgrade, or cancel it in seconds.
